psu 12v rails questions?

Ramona Pago: It's not a problem for two reasons:First, no 12V wire coming out of that power supply can carry 11A without melting the connector anyway. If you want to draw more then 10A, it's going to be over many wires.Second, you are exactly right, the power is not divided over the rails in a fixed way, it's based on load. The limiting factor that sets the 64A limit is how much heat the power supply can get rid of, not how much it can supply the rails.I have no been able to find the exact rail assignment for this power supply, but I'd guess it's: mobo, CPU, PCI-e 6 pin, first PCI-e 8 pin, second PCI-e 8 pin, SATA/MOLEX connectors....Show more

Rona Ising: You'll have 2 x 4-pin CPU connectors(only need one)...4 PCI-E connectors(2 x 6-pin and 2 x 6+2-pin)...7 x 4-pin molex connectors. Yes, 11A on each rail is real weak for todays graphic cards. Plus, that PSU is not 80 PLUS certified. Not sure of what your setup is but I have this PSU(link below) with a GTX 280 and! quad core that has been running a program(folding@home) that stresses your GPU/CPU and PSU to the max and it hasn't let me down...very reliable PSU. If you don't like it try to buy the following brands - PC P&C, Corsair or Thermaltake. Hope this helps....Show more
