Maryland Gareau: Not planning on using this for movies, just for music! - I just like really good flat bass responses and feel them thunderous shakes!
Lindsey Zanardi: for home stereo is better
Hugo Pittari: Considering the power you need to get those subs to come to life the car battery and a car amp might be a pretty good idea. You'd also need access to a pretty strong charger since even 500w rms out of a car amp is going to need 20-30A average to play at a reasonable volume. That'll draw down a car battery in an hour or two.Since those subs are both dual 2's you COULD get into the box and run separate wires to each sub (out the port?), rewire them for 4 ohms which might give you some options for using a more typical home audio type amp. The bash 300s for example does around 300w rms at 4 ohms. A pair would run you around $300, but since they're plate amps you'd have to incorporate them into your sub box.I think that could actually turn out to be an effi! cient way to go.Alternatively - just buy one good quality 12 and a sheet of mdf -- design and build a good box for it.That's what I did for my home theater sub. I have a high output 12 in a big ol' box tuned to around 25hz running on the bash 500s. I have less than $300 invested (of course I bought the sub used and the amp on a great sale) and its performance is comparable to a manufactured sub 2 or 3x the price....Show more
